Grainstoch

A pulsaret of knum breakpoints emitted at pitch, filling duty of each period. The grain is itself a written waveform, so the grain rate and the waveform inside the grain are two separate rates rather than one signal being windowed.

The walk happens between grains, not inside them. Every emission re-walks the whole pulsaret before playing it, so ampStep is a grain-to-grain decorrelation control: at 0 the same waveform repeats and the result is a pitched tone, and as it rises each grain departs further from the last until the train stops fusing into a pitch at all. The top panel shows the pulsaret currently in the buffer, redrawn as it walks.

Start with the gain low.

Reading the controls. window 0โ€“3 is rectangular, Hann, triangle, Gaussian. ampDist 0โ€“6 is linear, Cauchy, logistic, hyperbolic cosine, arcsine, exponential, sinus, the distribution set from Xenakis's dynamic stochastic synthesis. ampJump blends the walk toward an absolute draw rather than a step from where it was, so at 1 each grain is independent of the last. jitter perturbs the period only, leaving the pulsaret alone, which separates rhythmic irregularity from timbral drift.
